BACKGROUND: On May 1st 2018, hundreds of Los Angelenos marched in downtown marking the day traditionally commemorating workers rights. In recent years Southern California has chosen May Day as a day to mark the contributions of immigrant workers in particular. This year, amid scattered rain and cloudy skies, people gathered at Pershing Square and our field correspondent Nic Cha Kim was there and brings you this report as part of our on-going series Rising Up in the Streets.
