Niche.LA Video Art presents New Works by Motion One
LOS ANGELES, CA – From November 13th – December 6th, 2008,
Niche.LA
Video Art
presents a collection of new works by LA artist Motion One
as well as
his video art debut Mear One - Live Art Experience, a video expression
chronicling famed LA grafitti artist, Mear One.
MOTION was born as Ricardo Estrada in Los Angeles, CA in 1980. Growing
up, he was your
typical kid: video games, skating, chillin' with the homies, and
getting his ass wooped by his
mom. He was
bit by the graffiti bug in Jr. High.
Once he got to
high school, Ricardo started to
socialize with all the other graff
writers and he was taken under the
wing of his
fellow writers SODA and HECTIC.
Learning from 2 great artists, he quickly became well versed in various styles of art.
Never having taken formal art lessons, his schooling in art came from the school of
hard knocks. He asked many questions to fellow artists and experimented in various
mediums. Before the spraycan was picked up, he had an airbrush in his hand.
Introduced to him by his good friend HECTIC in September of 1994, he selected the
airbrush as his tool of choice for his art. He took on the task of studying the world and
his eyes opened up as if being
reborn when he discovered new heroes: Salvador
Dali, H.R Giger, and living legend
MEAR ONE. These 3 artist have helped shape the
artist that is MOTION.
Aside from art on canvas, he is also showcasing his artistic abilities in the world of
cinematography. Recently completing his first film project entitled Mear One - Live
Art
Experience, Niche.LA Video Art will showcase Motion One's first
film in the screening
room. Original air-brushed works by Motion will hang in the adjacent
next door.
