Niche.LA & Lounge 441 present "Digital World: LA"
LOS ANGELES, CA – LOS ANGELES, CA – Beginning February 9th, 2006, Niche.LA & Lounge 441 present "Digital World: L.A.," a diverse exhibit of art and videos from 20 emerging Los Angeles digital artists, including Robert Lepiz, Andrew Woll, Erin Preston, Tara Kozuback, Brent Langieri, James Olech, Helen Cahng, Wendy Given, Erika Suderburg, Eric Wise, Jeremy Lucido, Jacob Melchi, Thera Barnett, Calvin Phelps, and Lori Schindler. Works by Suzanne Oshinsky, Jacob Melchi, Christina Carrea, Laura Martin, and Hillary Mushkin, which are permanently archived at the Sandberg Instituut.

The ongoing Digital World series explores emerging artists from around the world, and turns its focus to the burgeoning local digital community. “Digital World: L.A.” is curated by Los Angles based artist S.E. Barnet, who creates films, videos, installations and new media works. Barnet , an internationally exhibited artist, is engaged in exploring the interrelationship between technology and the construction of identity. Her work has been exhibited at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, The American Academy in Rome, Galerie Christine Koenig in Vienna, the Sandberg Instituut and Nederlands Instituut voor MediaKunst Montevideo, and the Gazon Rouge Gallery in Athens. Her work has been written about in Art in America, Art Forum, and Art Papers, among others. In addition to her work as an artist and curator, S.E. Barnet heads the video department for Fine Arts at Otis College of Art and Design where she is an Assistant Professor.

Situated next to each other, Niche.LA & Lounge 441 form one space that features an 18-seat private screening room and a mixed-media/video art gallery. A digital cooperation in the middle of Gallery Row, these two "mini-galleries" offer an eclectic artistic experience on the 4th floor of the Spring Arts Tower in less than 750 square feet.

Niche.LA is operated by Nic Cha Kim and located at 453 S. Spring St. #443, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (www.niche.la). Nic also serves as President/Co-Founder of Gallery Row Organization (GRO) and Resident Producer of Lodestone Theatre Ensemble.

Lounge 441 is operated by Jason Waters and located at 453 S. Spring St. #441, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Jason is Executive Director/Founder of ArtistSalon; Arts & Culture Board Director of the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC); and Co-Chair of the Arts, Aesthetics, Culture & Education (AACE) Committee.
