A continual issue with showing and loving video works, this article brought me straight to my experience with Paul McCarthy’s incredible, epic WS installation with hours upon hours of video and a building’s worth of walkable sets. I spent half a day there and only saw half the show.
Not sure there’s a solution (other than that stated above), but it’s a true conflict between the nature of the medium with the nature of the viewer and something to keep in mind when showing, making, and watching time-based works…
